Welcome to Bethel . This is our fifth year in operation and already we praise God for the many blessings that have come our way. Let me pick up from the past school year's accomplishments to start with. I invite all parents to join in celebrating God's graciousness.
During the ground-breaking ceremony in September, 2004 the School Founder; Mr. Paul Varberg, pointed in midair where the third floor of the Kanluran Building was going to rise. Indeed, we can now see clearly that part of the building. As well, one can go up to the third level and "see" the auditorium, the HELE unit and the other facilities. Here in Bethel we like to dream big and lift up our dreams to Him who is faithful to finish the work that He started in us and in the midst of us. The building is not completely done yet but we anchor our faith in Him who is bigger than our dreams. God is our Provider. |

Meanwhile, we welcome with great excitement the many new things for this school year 2005 - 2006. The Grade 1 students will be the first class to go to the Kanluran Building . Additionally, we will have two teachers working as a team in this new Grade 1 set up. We will also have the new clinic facility for both the medical and dental units with a washroom/comfort room area. Three other classrooms will be functional: the Computer Room, the Activities Room, and the Chinese room cum Counselor's/Conference room. Because we are getting bigger in population, we are also starting this year a two-tiered recess and lunch schedule where the lower graders start their recess and lunch ahead of the upper graders. Additionally, academic schedule wise, we are starting the block scheduling mostly Science, Math, and Reading/Language classes at this point. This will enable teachers and students to allocate longer time for planned activities like research, experimentation and other enrichment/ exploration sessions. And we certainly look forward to having five new teachers this year ho have already planned exciting activities to with your child in their various class sessions.
We will be remiss if we id not mention an unprecedented feat achieved by our soccer players, the Eagles. For the first time, a private school team represented Leyte province in the EVRAA soccer competition in Maasin, Southern Leyte on April 17-22, 2005. They took the Silver Championship award even as we contested the overage opponents from another division. It is to the Eagle's credit that although they were not the champion team, most of the players were asked to represent Region 8 in soccer competition at the National Palaro level in Iloilo with Coach Mark Anderton as the team coach. We politely declined having made our point.
The Eagles gave their best and demonstrated that a united team can win by playing clean, fair and square. More than the award, the players gave honor to their school and to God by the manner they played and interacted with their peers and game officials. In that summer of 2005, the character that we desire to develop in the Bethel students shone brightly as an example to the rest of the players and the people in the region. We are certain the Eagles and Bethel would be remembered long after the EVRAA for a job well done, inside out. Kudos to the players but the lion's share goes to the parents who gave their unstinting support by being there for them all throughout the event. We would like to thank the PTA Board for helping raise funds from the other parents to help defray expenses at the EVRAA meet. Needless to say we are grateful to Mr. Mark Anderton for his dedication to build a winning team and a winner's heart in each Eagle player.
Many challenges await us for this coming school year. I trust we will all be equal to meeting the tasks that lie ahead by God's grace and mercy. I thank you most sincerely in anticipation of your support. May God Bless you all for your cooperation.
